Aren’t Tile Roofs Lifetime Roofs?

The answer is perhaps the tile itself may last a lifetime but that does NOT mean it keeps water out of your homes or buildings! Pictured to the right is typical of what our brutal Phoenix, Arizona heat does to the material UNDER the tile, the underlayment. This is what keeps your home watertight on a tile roof along with proper details at all the critical areas such as roof to wall transitions, penetrations, skylights, chimneys, and so on.

The lower picture shows a start of proper new underlayment and batten strips used under the tile. The tile was reset on the roof after all the details were done properly, and then this roof was watertight and will stay that way for many years.

Tile is available in many styles, colors and configurations. There are many looks you can achieve with what is available. Most importantly, the installation of a tile roof (like all roofs) is absolutely critical for long-term success at keeping your home or buildings leak-free. We only covered some very basic items here. Contact us for a complete evaluation of your tile roof and all of the options available to make yours last for many years to come!
